Megan Cheng's Piano Studio

ABOUT MEGAN
Megan is an esteemed piano teacher, a professional accompanist, and most of all an enthusiastic pianist currently based in Chelmsford, UK. She holds the Fellowship of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (FRSM) in piano performance. Her passion for the piano began at a young age, and her commitment has earned her numerous accolades throughout her musical journey. Notably, she was the champion of the Asia-Pacific Piano Competition and first runner-up in the Hong Kong Children & Youth Piano Contest.

After graduating from university, Megan dedicated herself to a career in music education. She was a senior piano teacher for over a decade at GMC Music, a well-respected piano academy in Hong Kong. During this period, she has successfully guided many students to attain remarkable achievements in examinations and competitions, with most of them earning high distinctions (scores exceeding 140 out of 150) in ABRSM exams. Moreover, her prodigious skills in music education have been widely acclaimed. She received teacher commendations from various competitions and associations, such as the Gold Prize Teacher Award from the Hong Kong Children & Youth Piano Contest (2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023), the Best Teacher Award at the China European International Music Festival in 2022, the Excellence in Education Guidance Award at the Taiwan Asia Aegean Sea Music Competition (2022 and 2023), and many more.

Since 2024, Megan has arranged a number of activities to provide her students with inspirations and opportunities of public performances. In April 2024, she directed a piano masterclass for a target audience ranging from beginner to diploma levels. Students were highly engaging and have demonstrated significant improvements afterwards, which showcased the benefits of group-based interactive learning. In December 2024, Megan co-organised the London Joy of Music Festival. The event was held at the stunning Rosslyn Hill Chapel hall and provided 37 young musicians a great opportunity to gain an experience in public performances. The festival was coupled with valuable comments and inspiring guidance by the adjudicator Mr Matthew Lam, a professional pianist from the Royal Northern College of Music. The festival concluded with a huge success.

Beyond teaching, Megan actively collaborates with local musicians, performs in church piano recitals and more. Stay tuned on Megan's YouTube channel and Instagram for important updates and more videos of her teaching and performances!
